Key responsibilities:
- Create and design innovative and delicious desserts for the restaurants of Beachcomber hotels.
- Prepare, bake and present desserts that meet Beachcomber’s quality standards.
- Work with the chefs to create desserts to provide complete menus that meet guest preferences.
- Lead a small team of pastry trainees, teach them pastry techniques and support them in their learning.
- Take part in culinary contests and competitions to showcase the talent and creativity of Beachcomber’s pastry department.
- Effectively manage the inventory and handle pastry ingredient orders to ensure the availability of the necessary products.
Qualifications and skills:
- Solid pastry experience with a passion for creating innovative desserts.
- Creativity and ability to come up with new ideas to broaden the variety of desserts offered to guests.
- Excellent time management and organisational skills for timely preparation of desserts.
- Leadership and coaching skills to train and motivate a team of pastry trainees.
- Ability to work independently while being an active member of Beachcomber’s culinary team.
- Knowledge of hygiene and food safety standards to ensure a safe and clean working environment.
