Assistant Cook

As an Assistant Cook, you will play a key role in Beachcomber’s kitchen team and contribute to preparing delicious meals to deliver exceptional guest dining experiences. Your passion for cooking and drive to succeed will enable you to advance your career and aspire to become a Sous-Chef.

Key responsibilities:

  • Assist the Chefs de Partie and senior cooks in meal preparation according to the hotel’s recipes and quality standards.
  • Actively participate in prepping ingredients, cutting vegetables, preparing sauces and other food preparation tasks.
  • Contribute to creative food presentation in accordance with the hotel’s standards.
  • Ensure that the kitchen is clean and well-organised in compliance with hygiene and food safety standards.
  • Work closely with the kitchen team to maintain a harmonious and efficient work environment.
  • Acquire in-depth knowledge of different types of cuisine and food preparation techniques to enhance your culinary skills.
  • Develop your ability to communicate with guests and answer their queries about the food and ingredients used.
  • Participate in training and career development programmes to further progress in your career.
  • Be open to discovering new cuisines and food cultures, with a focus on international gastronomy.

Qualifications and skills:

  • Training in cookery, preferably through programmes such as Projet Employabilité Jeunes (PEJ).

  • A passion for cooking and the desire to advance your culinary career.

  • Ability to work in a high-temperature and demanding environment while maintaining a positive and proactive attitude.

  • Organisational skills and the ability to multi-task.

  • Excellent communication skills to interact with colleagues and guests.

  • Flexibility and ability to work variable hours according to the kitchen’s operational requirements.

  • Strict compliance with hygiene and food safety standards.

  • Understanding of different international cuisines and eagerness to discover new culinary techniques.
