WORLD OCEAN DAY 2024 - Paradis Beachcomber
Celebration of the oceans through a workshop, lagoon clean-up and marine environment exploration
World Oceans Day holds a special significance for us. The marine environment contributes to making our island unique, with an ecosystem that plays an essential role in sustaining life on Earth. On Saturday 8 June 2024, Paradis Beachcomber Golf Resort & Spa hosted an awareness day on ocean-related issues and the need conservation action. The event was attended by the resort’s Artisans, guests, children from the surroundings and beach hawkers.
This eventful day celebrated the beauty and wealth of the oceans through a workshop on marine biodiversity and simple everyday actions for protection, a lagoon clean-up, a glass-bottom boat tour to see the seabed up close and an exhibition of the most iconic corals from Mauritian beaches.
“World Oceans Day, with the theme ‘Awaken New Depths’, urges us to step up our efforts to protect the ocean. To foster this momentum, we brought together our teams, guests and local communities, including schoolchildren and beach hawkers, for a day full of exchanges and sharing about how the ocean works. It was a joy to see the enthusiasm of participants of all ages,” says Paradis Beachcomber’s Quality Assurance Manager and Green Team Leader, Elisabeth Adam.
Everyone proudly wore their ocean-themed T-shirts that said, “Il faut préserver nos océans, demain il sera trop tard !” (Let’s protect our oceans; tomorrow will be too late!).
